Lindsay Sommerauer
MACP, RP
I’m Lindsay, and I’m honoured to be here as part of the team at the EIR Centre offering support in this difficult time for you and your loved ones.
The processes of diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and battle against illnesses - including cancer - can take us through a roller coaster of emotions, waves of crisis, and what can feel like unbearable waiting periods with little to no control. I’m here to sit with you in these experiences, offering witness to your experience. I offer a listening ear, a compassionate resting place, and, when you’re ready, a gentle and collaborative space to move through and forward.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist offering both individual and relationship therapy. I have training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and the Tree of Life narrative therapy approach. I also draw on compassion-focused, existential, and values-based therapies. I can help with grief support, with holding space for the existential questions that can arise with cancer, and with supporting the emotional processes of caregivers.
With couples, I specialize in creative relationship work that acknowledges how the needs and capacities of each person in a relationship ebb and flow over time. How we accept the reality of these changes and make choices to be with each other while supporting each other’s journeys can be a beautiful project. I would be honoured to join with you in this endeavour.
Remember: you don’t have to go through this journey alone. There are many others who, like you and me, seek a meaningful and fulfilling life, a life filled with courage to move forward. Focusing on the present, without judging the past or worrying about the future, is essential to navigate the uncertainty that illness brings. I’d be honoured to join your care team, and support you on the path ahead.
